At times, I am placed in a position to put together a creative team that is the right fit for a specific job. Sometimes. I can only influence the client to go one way or the other. Gone are the days of making demands. “I only work with so-and-so!” Especially, if that attitude would cost me the job. I consider myself to be a loyal person. You do right by me, I’ll make sure you are in my corner… IF you are the right fit for the job. It’s nothing personal and everything Professional.
So how do you get booked? All things are weighed in:
All of these things are key factors. I CAN’T pick a creative team based on how many times we’ve had coffee or beers. I also cannot pick a person based on how many times they have done unpaid work with me, either. That is our “proving ground”. I am evaluating your work and testing your limits. As I am with mine.
The importance of a make-up artist, hair stylist and clothing stylist is to package a shot as perfectly as possible. Make that client happy! Make that image leap off the page. To reduce retouching costs. Those are the key priorities of your work! Take pride. Paid or unpaid. Constantly improve and/or evolve. Otherwise, you will be passed over. That’s the hard truth.
